Privacy Policy

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information Estigator ("we", "us", "our") collects through the Estigator Workshop software (the "Service") and how we use it. It applies to workshop owners, technician sub-accounts, and anyone who signs in to the Service — including via Google Sign-In.

2. Our role vs. your shop's role

Estigator is software a repair shop ("Workshop", "you", "your shop") uses to generate and manage repair estimates for its own customers. For the vehicle, damage, and claim information your staff enter about your own customers, your shop is generally the one that decides what's collected and why — we process it on your shop's behalf, as the software provider. For your own staff accounts (owner and technician logins) and how you use the Service, we act as the data controller described below.

3. Information we collect

Account information: name, email address, and phone number for a workshop owner and any technician sub-accounts they create; a securely hashed password if you sign up with one.

Google Sign-In: if you create or log in to your account using "Sign in with Google", we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google's sign-in flow. We use this solely to create and authenticate your Estigator account — we do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it. This use complies with Google's Limited Use requirements for data received through Google Sign-In.

Vehicle, damage, and claim information: photos of vehicle damage, VIN, year/make/model/trim, mileage, condition, OBD fault codes, and any claim/insurance details (insurer, policy number, adjuster contact, point of impact, etc.) your staff enter while creating an estimate.

Billing information: handled by our payment processors, Stripe and/or PayPal. We receive a payment status and limited metadata (e.g., a masked card summary) — we never receive or store your full card number, CVC, or expiration date on our own servers.

Usage and device information: IP address, browser/device identifiers, and login session activity, used for account security and abuse prevention.

Communications: messages you send us (support requests, disputes, broadcast messages between a shop and its technicians) are retained to respond to you and operate the Service.

4. How we use information

To generate a damage analysis and cost estimate — including sending submitted photos to our AI vision model and, where applicable, a part-cropping model, and to our VIN-decoding and vehicle-parts pricing providers;

To create, authenticate, and secure accounts (including Google Sign-In), and to enforce role-based access so a technician only ever sees their own shop's data;

To process payments and manage billing/subscriptions;

To send transactional email (email verification, password reset, technician invitations, review-complete notifications);

To operate optional features a shop turns on itself, such as a lead-gen widget or a referral link, or an integration with a third-party shop-management platform you've connected;

To maintain and improve the Service, including in aggregate/de-identified form.

5. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with the service providers needed to run the Service, each acting on our behalf and bound to use data only for that purpose: our AI/vision model provider, our VIN-decoding provider, our vehicle-parts pricing provider (eBay via a licensed data partner), our payment processors (Stripe, PayPal), our email delivery providers (Resend and/or SMTP), and our object-storage/hosting infrastructure.

If your shop connects a third-party integration partner (a shop-management platform) or enables a referral link, only the information needed for that specific connection or estimate is shared, consistent with the permissions your shop configures.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Estigator, our users, or the public.

6. Data retention and security

We retain account and estimate data for as long as your shop's account is active, or as needed to comply with legal, tax, or dispute-resolution obligations. Photos and estimate data are stored in access-controlled object storage and databases; access to a shop's data is limited to that shop's own staff and Estigator platform administrators.

7. Your choices and rights

A workshop owner can deactivate a technician sub-account at any time from My Technicians. Any user may request a copy of, or deletion of, their account information by contacting us at the address below, subject to our legitimate need to retain certain records (e.g., billing history) as required by law.

8. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for business use by repair shops and their staff and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
